About TMP.

Metal has been part of my life since I discovered the down-tuned noise of Korn’s Freak on a Leash when I received its single as a present for my 12th birthday. That was more than two decades years ago. It gripped me then and it has never released its hold.

Very quickly, metal became an obsession. It consumed most of my free time as a teenager. There was no Spotify or YouTube back then and the information on the internet was limited, so you had to scavenge the local record stores and libraries to discover new artists. Did I abuse file-sharing networks once they started to pop up in the early 2000s to get my hands on new music? Of course, I did. I was a teenager with very little money. How else was I to satisfy my unquenchable thirst for new metal? Sue me!

I made it my goal in life to get to know as many bands and genres as possible, from the extreme colds of black metal to the glorious tunes of sword-wielding power metal, and everything in between. So, I consumed the legendary Encyclopaedia Metallum to research connections between bands and musicians, discover new music and build a timeline for myself.

As a result, over the past 20 years, I built up a history and development of the genre, its highs and its lows, its culture, and its community.

Fast forward to today.

In my professional life, I am a growth marketer and copywriter for B2B companies. Understanding the value of online content is a big part of my daily life. So is creating it.

For years, my metal experience has played off largely inside my head. Now, I decided to put it on paper and share it with those who either have an equal interest in the genre we hold so dear, are new to the genre, or (if you are a parent, like myself) want to understand this unique world their kids are a part of.

The majority of websites that deal with metal are either webzines like Metal Injection and Metal Sucks or blogs that consist of mostly album and concert reviews and interviews. No one really talks about the genre, its community, its culture, and what it means to be a metalhead. I intend to fill that gap.

For that reason, I started The Mosh Pit.

In its basic form, it is a personal blog with my views, opinions, and reflections on the genre and its community. But who knows what it may grow into?

Enjoy!
